Fernando Roig, president of newly promoted La Liga club Villarreal has admitted his interest in procuring the services of Giovani dos Santos.
The 24-year-old presently plays for Spanish side Mallorca, who were relegated last season.
Dos Santos was an integral part of the Mexican national team which took part in the ongoing FIFA Confederations Cup but crashed out in the group stages of the tournament.
The attacking midfielder, who can also play as a winger, was a notable highlight for Mexico in the tournament which was otherwise quite forgettable for El Tricolor.

Roig, claims that although they are interested in Dos Santos, the Mexican is only one of the many options which Villarreal have.
He told Catalan daily Sport, "Giovani is a player we like and value .We have a long list of options and cannot deny that Gio is one of them, but he is one among many others."
Dos Santos started his career with Barcelona B before moving on to the senior side and has also played in the English Premier League with Tottenham Hotspur.
His contract with Mallorca runs up to 30th June 2016.
