Barcelona’s talismanic player Lionel Messi has heaped praise on his club’s new recruit Neymar and hopes that the Brazilian can replicate his scintillating form in the Confederations Cup for the Catalan giants.

Messi told Spanish daily Marca: "He’s a great player and can contribute a lot to a team. Hopefully he can continue what he is doing with Brazil at Barcelona."



Neymar has been in great form for the Selecao in the tournament and has scored three goals in four matches to take his side to the final, where they will meet the formidable Spain.

The diminutive Argentine is optimistic about his club’s chances next season and believes that they will be trying to win every trophy.

He also had words for their fierce rivals Real Madrid stating that Barcelona will compete against a great team, with great players and a great manager.

On being asked about how Barcelona’s former manager Pep Guardiola will fare with Bayern Munich, the 26-year-old replied that the Spaniard’s introduction will make the German side even stronger despite them winning all the major honours last term around.

"Bayern were already a great team before Guardiola. They won it all last season and have great players. Pep’s arrival will make them stronger.”
