Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Gylfi Sigurdsson has expressed his hope of having a good start to the upcoming 2013/14 campaign for the club, looking to pick up where they left off from last season.

The White Hart Lane outfit registered just two defeats in their last 22 Premier League outings as they put together a record points total of 72 in finishing fifth – just missing out on Champions League qualification.

"We only lost two out of the last 22 and we need to make sure we’re ready for the first few games, look to start well and continue in the form we ended last season", the Iceland international told the club’s official site.

“We want to get off to a positive start. That’s important for us", Sigurdsson added.

Such form mimicked what Sigurdsson went through on the individual level. Indeed, the Icelander slotted in a total five goals in his last 15 games for the club last season, and hopes that will finally bed him in the team and he can put such performances in on a consistent basis.

“Things started falling into place and working better for me in the second half of the season. Hopefully that will continue into next season", Sigurdsson concluded.
