Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen, who have been extremely busy in the transfer market, have now snapped up Bosnia and Herzegovina captain Emir Spahic from Sevilla.
The central-defender, who has been on loan with Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala, has been signed on a two-year deal.
Wolfgang Holzhauser, Leverkusen CEO, is happy with the deal and believes that the central-defensive area of the club is in very good shape with the arrival of Spahic.
“We have Philipp Wollenberg, Omer Toprak and Emir Spahic and are very well covered in the centre of defence”, he told Kicker.

Sporting director, Rudi Voller, also expressed his satisfaction with the deal and claimed that their new acquisition is tactically very sound and will help the side to challenge for domestic as well as European glory.
Spahic is the German club’s seventh signing this summer and will join the likes of Giulio Donati, Son Heung-Min, Andres Palop, Paul Voss, Kostas Stafylidis and Robbie Kruse.
The 32-year-old joined Sevilla on 1st July 2011 from Montpellier.
