Bayern Munich skipper Philipp Lahm has explained that everyone in the team has to start from scratch to prove their mettle to new club head coach Pep Guardiola.

Lahm, who has been with the Bavarians since 1995 when he joined the club as a youngster, also believes there will be many changes at the club following the arrival of the Spanish tactician.

The former Barcelona boss was unveiled as the new manager of the club on Monday and took his first training session on Wednesday.

“You could see that there will be many changes. The training was entirely new to us, since we really stretched out when we warmed up”, the German skipper told Merkur.

“Everyone is very attentive. Everyone has to prove himself again at the start of a new season, especially with a new coach.”

Guardiola’s first competitive match as the Bavarians head coach is on 27th July, when the Munich giants take on Ruhr giants and Der Klassiker rivals Borussia Dortmund, in the German Super Cup.

Both clubs clashed at Wembley last month in the final of the Champions League. Bayern Munich, led by former manager Jupp Heynckes, just edged past the Borussians with a 2-1 win, and subsequently bagged the coveted trophy.

They also achieved a historic treble after lifting the Bundesliga as well as the German Cup, in the 2012/13 season.
