Istanbul giants Besiktas are interested in snapping up Tottenham Hotspur striker Emmanuel Adebayor, according to Tutto Mercato.

The Black Eagles could only finish third in the Turkish Super Lig last season, behind fierce rivals Fenerbahce and Galatasaray.

Besiktas, who last won the Super Lig crown four years ago, are keen to mount a realistic title challenge in the new campaign.

And Togo hitman Adebayor is a potential option believed to be being studied in the Turkish capital.

Adebayor is thought to be available for the right price this summer and slipped down the pecking order at White Hart Lane last season.

Indeed, the former Arsenal man only started in 18 of Spurs’ 38 Premier League games, notching five goals in the process.

The 29-year-old’s contract with Tottenham runs until the summer of 2015.
