Norwich City manager Chris Hughton has the belief that new signing Ricky van Wolfswinkel can keep up his scoring record and adapt well to the English Premier League.

The Canaries snapped up the Dutch striker for a total of €12m, including €2m in bonuses, from Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon on a four-year deal. His move was confirmed in March.

Van Wolfswinkel scored 14 times out of 30 appearances in the Portuguese league last season, and Hughton is confident that the 24-year-old can continue his goalscoring spree with the Premier League side.

"I’m confident he can keep up his scoring record. Van Wolfswinkel is used to scoring goals and I’m sure he can adapt to the Premier League”, Hughton said in a press conference, via his club’s feed.

"It’s a different game now and a lot of overseas players have come to the league recently and adapted very well."

Hughton also announced that the majority of the team will report to training on Thursday.

"The large majority of the team will be back in training on Thursday. There is a lot of work going on behind the scenes.

"We want to continue working on the squad and improving on what we’ve got. With Ricky, we’ve started to do that”, he added.

The Canaries host Everton in their first Premier League game of the 2013/14 season on 17th August.
