New Leeds United signing Luke Murphy has explained that he wants to earn promotion to the Premier League with the Yorkshire giants and is thrilled to join a club of such stacture.
The 23-year-old midfielder was snapped up by Leeds yesterday from Crewe Alexandra, and the Englishman has penned a three-year contract at Elland Road.
Murphy clocked up 48 appearances for Crewe last season, picking up nine goals and 12 assists. He was also tracked by English Premier League club Aston Villa, as well as Championship side Blackburn Rovers and League One outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The player admitted to having held talks with Wolves and Rovers, but ultimately made the decision to join the Peacocks, following a “good chat” with club manager Brian McDermott.

"It’s an unbelievable feeling to have signed for a club that has the stature of Leeds United", Murphy told his new club’s official site.
"I came here on Monday and saw the training ground. I know about the fans, and it’s something I’m looking forward to. I’ll go home tonight and have a good smile to myself.
"It wasn’t just ‘come and play for Leeds in the Championship’, we’re looking to get in the Premier League and I want to be a part of that."
McDermott’s side finished 13th in the English second tier last season, and are targeting a better run of form in the upcoming season. The club have also snapped up English striker Matt Smith this summer, and are aiming to add more players to the squad.
