Chelsea will find it harder to pry Portuguese winger Bruma away from the Primeira Liga as Eastlands giants Manchester City enter the race to sign the Sporting Lisbon attacker.
Sporting Lisbon have pegged back Chelsea’s bid for Bruma, despite the bid carrying a hefty sum of €15m. The Lisbon side are prepared to play hardball over the 18-year-old.
Such a big offer proved unconvincing for Sporting Lisbon – despite the club still being in dire straits financially, a burden that forced them to sell prized striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel to Norwich City a few months ago.
According to Portuguese daily O Jogo, new Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has been given the green light by the club’s top brass to part ways with money exceeding Chelsea’s offer in an effort to tempt Bruma into making an Etihad Stadium move.
