Arsenal’s impending acquisition of Real Madrid superstar Gonzalo Higuain is set to be ratified soon, with the London outfits preparing to part ways with a total value of £23m to get their man.

Higuain’s future at the Santiago Bernabeu had been the subject of speculation in recent months, and he looked spot on to join Serie A champions Juventus.

But with the Bianconeri getting their hands on another Argentine, Manchester City’s Carlos Tevez, it soon became clear that Higuain no longer has a place with the Turin giants.

Enter Arsenal, who have been diligently keeping tabs on Higuain’s situation. With Juventus out of the picture, it is believed that Gunners manager Arsene Wenger has made his move, with the player’s father and agent confirming they are in talks with the London-based club.

Indeed, according to Fox Sports Argentina, Real Madrid accepted a £23m offer from the Emirates Stadium outfit, leading to Arsenal getting permission to talk with the Higuain camp.

Now, it is thought that Arsenal are willing to hand Higuain a £100,000-per-week contract just to lure him to the Premier League, which will put the striker up there with the likes of Theo Walcott and Thomas Vermaelen as the club’s biggest earners.

Higuain’s contract with Real Madrid will not be expiring until 2016, but the signs suggest he will not be with Los Blancos for that long.
