PSV Eindhoven Kevin Strootman may have gained another admirer from Italy in addition to Napoli and AC Milan, with Roma also understood to be in line for a move, according to Sky Italia.

Strootman’s talents have earned him a decent list of suitors this summer, with Manchester United the most high-profile name alongside Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.

The interest from Italy has been strong, and Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini is reported to have flown to Holland yesterday for a look-in.

PSV have already made clear to Strootman they expect him to continue his stay at the Philips Stadion, but the Eredivisie club have seen several departures this summer.

Whether they can hold on to Strootman remains an open question, but Roma will be keen to add to their attacking force especially after last season’s mediocre display.

Roma finished mid-table in Serie A and also lost the Coppa Italia final to arch rivals Lazio, prompting a managerial change with Rudi Garcia arriving from Lille.

The capital club are yet to make an overseas summer signing, and there will be few better than Strootman within their grasp, with the player having made 32 league appearances backed by 10 goals and six assists last season.
