Wigan manager Owen Coyle has pulled off his sixth summer signing by recruiting former West Bromwich Albion striker Marc-Antoine Fortune on a free transfer.
Fortune had been a free agent since being released by West Brom at the end of last season, and has signed a two-year deal at the DW Stadium.
The 32-year-old joins the Latics after several stints in both England and in France, as well as a season’s stay at Celtic.
He boasts time at FC Utrecht in Holland which came around spells at Lille, Brest, Nancy and Rouen, whilst he has also played for Doncaster Rovers in the Football League.

Coyle, who faces the dual tasks of managing a promotion charge alongside Europa League participation, told Wigan’s official site: "To bring a player of such calibre to the football club is a great piece of business.
"He’s shown his qualities at the very highest level, and when I spoke to Steve Clarke at West Brom he told me how he didn’t want to lose him.
"It goes to show how important he has been at his former club and proof that he has the capabilities to be a Premier League forward, never mind a Championship one."
Fortune had joined West Brom in 2010, and went on to make 89 appearances scoring 13 goals in all competitions – with his one-year Doncaster stint coming in between that time.
