Chelsea’s new signing Marco van Ginkel is delighted with his move to Stamford Bridge.
The 20-year-old was signed from Eredivisie side Vitesse Arnhem and is poised to meet his new team-mates today.
He told the club’s official site, “I’m very happy to be here at such a nice club with great players. I am really happy, the stadium is good and the training ground is fantastic.
“I know about all the players and will meet them on Monday. I expect a lot, I’ve watched matches and it’s really nice to be here.”

Van Ginkel claims that he is a box-to-box player who can cover a lot of ground and has a knack of scoring goals, but also added that he likes to defend and is a real team player.
Vitesse finished fourth in the Eredivisie table last season, but the midfielder won the Dutch Football Talent of the Year award and feels that signing for Chelsea is a step up in his career.
“I had a good season and won the award, which I am really proud of. We were fourth in the table, which for Vitesse is really good. It was a good season and I think that’s why I am here. I wanted to make a step up and Chelsea was a good opportunity.”
Van Ginkel has already spoken to new Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho and is hopeful of developing himself under the Portuguese.
“I spoke with the manager and he had some good words for me. If a trainer like this says these things to you it makes you really proud and I am happy to work with him.”
The Dutchman wants to earn regular minutes on the pitch rather than being a bench-warmer.
Van Ginkel scored 18 goals in 93 appearances for his former employers Vitesse Arnhem.
