Former Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar feels that the club's new manager David Moyes may not be able to guide the side to a Premier League title for at least two years, although he does not believe that will be enough to merit the sack.

The Red Devils won the Premier League title at a canter last term under Sir Alex Ferguson but, despite having the same squad, bolstered by Marouane Fellaini, Moyes is struggling to recreate the magic.

Indeed, Manchester United have already lost to Liverpool, Manchester City and West Brom in the Premier League, as they have slipped off the early pace set by rivals Arsenal.

And Van der Sar does not expect success this term, or even next term, even if he does feel Moyes can eventually find the right formula.

"We have had so much success over the years with Ferguson and not even he won the league all the time", the Dutchman was quoted as saying by FIFA.

"There is a chance that he might not win in the first season or even the second season, but hopefully they have faith in what he can do.

"I know the directors and the owners are not panicking quickly, so I don't see a problem.

"Of course they are realistic contenders because they have great players, a lot of experience."

Next up for Manchester United after the international break is a visit from an in-form Southampton side on 19th October.
