Thiago Motta's agent Alessandro Canovi admits Paris Saint-Germain will have to better their contract-renewal offer if they are to keep the former Inter Milan midfielder.

Motta became linked with a move to Napoli this summer but that was denied by Canovi, who previously explained that his client wanted to stay on in Paris.

With clubs such as Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester City lurking, Motta is understood to be unhappy with the extension proffered as he looks to keep himself at PSG until 2017.

Motta's current contract runs until 2015, and Canovi told L'Equipe: "Honestly, we are still far from an agreement.

"Thiago has the will to stay in Paris, but the club's proposal does not give the impression that he is an important player in the PSG project."

Motta, who represented Brazil at youth level, switched to Italy and has 16 caps with the national side.

He made three appearances for the Azzurri as they secured an automatic berth for next year's World Cup.
