Daniel Agger has brushed off talk of a transfer away from Liverpool and pointed out he is happy to have taken his chance to return to the club's starting eleven at the weekend.

The Denmark centre-back had seen himself relegated to bench-warming duties for much of the opening portion of the season as Martin Skrtel, Mamadou Sakho and Kolo Toure impressed as a back three in a 3-5-2 formation.

However, Agger started in Liverpool's 4-0 win over Fulham on Saturday and was pleased to get game time under his belt.

"It's all about playing football. That's what I'm working towards", he explained to Danish outlet Bold.

"It has been hard, but it has not been difficult.

"I was waiting for another chance and it is about grabbing it when you get it."

Asked about a potential transfer away from Liverpool in the future, especially with Agger having admitted that the Reds blocked a bid from Barcelona in the summer, the defender laughed it off.

He said: "Of course you do [have to ask that].

"It's nothing new."
