Kevin De Bruyne will not be joining Anderlecht on loan from Chelsea in January due to the long-sighted approach of fellow Belgian side Genk.

The attacking midfielder is struggling to make an impact at Stamford Bridge and has been relegated to the fringes of the Chelsea squad.

De Bruyne has pledged to fight for his spot, but the situation is concerning in a World Cup year.

This led to Anderlecht to open the door towards a loan of De Bruyne in January, with the club's sporting director Herman Van Holsbeeck insisting he can move to Brussels at once.

But according to Belgian daily Het Nieuwsblad, Van Holsbeeck will not be able to get his man.

Genk, who sold De Bruyne to Chelsea in the 2012 January transfer window before loaning him straight back to complete the campaign, had specified as part of the deal that the midfielder cannot be loaned to Anderlecht.

The clause applies to no other Belgian club, although it is unlikely De Bruyne would join a club other than Anderlecht, even if Genk might dream of tempting back their former player.
