Scottish Premiership side Hibernian have confirmed the appointment of Terry Butcher as the club's new manager.

Butcher has penned a three-year contract at Easter Road and is joined by Maurice Malpas as his assistant boss.

The former England defender had been in charge of Inverness and led the club to second in the Scottish top flight. But he has chosen a new adventure with Hibernian and is delighted.

He told his new club's official site: "I'm excited about the future and what we can achieve at Hibernian – it's a great honour to be appointed the new manager of the club.
