La Liga club Malaga have revealed they are holding talks with free agent Yossi Benayoun.

The Israeli schemer was released by Chelsea at the end of last season following the expiry of his contract at Stamford Bridge.

He has been a free agent since and as such is able to move outside the transfer window system.

And Malaga are keen on the 33-year-old, even though it will have implications for their current squad.

Director general Vicente Casado told La Opinion de Malaga: "We are in contact with some interesting players. One of them is Benayoun, but nothing is done.

“Benayoun is a non-EU player and if he came, Weligton, Roberto Chen or Pedro Morales would have to leave."

The Israeli has turned out in Spanish football before, playing for Racing Santander from 2002 until 2005.
