Celtic right-back Adam Matthews has revealed that he is aiming to return to action in his side’s Champions League clash against Barcelona on 11th December.

The 21-year-old was sidelined after dislocating his collar bone in the Hoops’ 2-0 win over Motherwell on 5th October.

However Matthews, who has returned to training, is keen to feature in the Champions League game against Barcelona at the Camp Nou in December as he knows the game against AC Milan later this month will come too early for him.

The Wales international further added that he is pleased with the progress he has made so far since picking up the injury against Motherwell.

“Fingers crossed for Barcelona, Milan is out of the question but hopefully I can at least get an appearance on the bench for Barca but its touch and go at the minute", he told his club's official site.

“I’m just focusing on getting fit and if I can get back for that game then that’d be great for me.

“It’s getting there. I’ve started running now which is good and my shoulder is still a bit stiff but it’s getting better every day so hopefully it won’t be too long until I’m back out on the pitch.”

Matthews, who is contracted with Celtic until 2016, has made 91 appearances in all competitions for the club, netting four times.
