Liverpool striker Iago Aspas has insisted the Reds should be aiming to finish in the Premier League's top four this season, with that being a minimum target.

Aspas joined Liverpool in the summer, making the switch from Spanish outfit Celta Vigo after a 2012/13 campaign which saw him play a key role in helping the side to survive in La Liga.

He has struggled to make an impact at Anfield so far, but has seen the Reds soar in the Premier League table; they currently sit second.

That has raised expectations and Aspas is clear that the return of Champions League football is what should be aimed for this term.

"I think we should be aiming to finish in the top four – I think it is the minimum for this club", he told his club's official site.

"The squad is very good; you can see that when you consider it player by player.

"My ambition is to play as many times as possible and to try to do it in the best possible way to finish in the top four."

Liverpool are next in action this weekend when they clash with rivals Everton in the famed Merseyside derby.
