Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Christian Eriksen has admitted his side are a little lucky to have earned 20 points in their last 11 matches despite scoring no more than nine goals.

On paper, Spurs are definitely not short of options, with the likes of Gylfi Sigurdsson, Lewis Holtby, Andros Townsend and Christian Eriksen, among others, available to pull the strings and create chances.

But it is their solid defence, seven clean sheets so far, rather than their wealth of attacking strength that is bringing home the needed points – a fact not lost on the Danish playmaker.

"It is a bit surprising that we have only scored nine goals so far and still have 20 points on the board", Eriksen told Bold.

"Then again, we have kept a lot of clean sheets, earned a lot of 1-0s and held on. For example, against Newcastle [a 1-0 defeat, ed], we had a billion chances. We have also had other chances in other games, we just couldn't get it over the line, so I'm not worried", Eriksen added.

Spurs' solid defending sees them hold their ground at seventh in the table, just a point shy of the top four.
