Manchester City would do well to listen to elite development manager Patrick Vieira about transfer target Paul Pogba, as the Frenchman admitted not signing him up last year was "a mistake".

Pogba left Manchester United in the summer of 2012 with the usual round of speculation that had included Manchester City's name.

He joined Juventus and is once again subject to speculation, with the Citizens joined by Manchester United, Real Madrid, Arsenal, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.

The door to an "indecent offer" was laid slightly ajar in October, though a contract renewal at Juventus is part of the main agenda at the moment.

And Vieira today admitted last year should have seen the coup happen telling, L'Equipe: "He is a player I really like.

"I saw him play for Manchester [United] and to not have signed him when he left that club was a mistake because he is an extraordinary player.

"Many tell me that [he plays like I do]. I think he is more attacking than me and perhaps more technically skilled."

Pogba is currently contracted at Juventus until 2016, and his renewal is in the same boat as team-mate Arturo Vidal's.
