Napoli manager Rafael Benitez has reiterated his desire to buy players in the winter, though he was coy on actual targets given his side's rise.

Benitez spent a substantial amount of money in transfer fees this summer, but the feeling has always been that it was not the end of his spree.

With Napoli making a concerted push on both Serie A and Champions League fronts, the need for new players, especially defenders has been there.

Names such as Paris Saint-Germain's Marco Verratti have long done the rounds in the press, though Benitez has little time for speculation.

"In January, I expect to do some shopping but not all of these names that appear in the papers", Benitez was quoted as saying by Sportmediaset.

"We have been working for many months in this sense. I meet with [Napoli sporting director Riccardo] Bigon on a regular basis. I'm not going to say what we need though.

"Because if I say, for example, that we are missing a goalkeeper, we will get approaches from 50 to 100 players. And we will have to then ask the league if we can extend the squad."
