Ogenyi Onazi has sought to quash talk that he is angling for a move to Liverpool by claiming he did not even mention the Reds in a recent interview.
Onazi, who turns out for Lazio in Serie A, was in action for Nigeria in an international friendly against Italy at Craven Cottage in London, a match which ended 2-2.
He was asked a question about Liverpool – the Nigerian said: "Liverpool? They are a huge team and attractive to any footballer. I could see myself playing for them" – which he answered, but has now sought to clarify his remarks.
Onazi told Lazio Style Radio: "I came back from London yesterday morning, some people have told me that they read this interview.
