Celtic star Charlie Mulgrew has warned his team-mates against reading too much into AC Milan's position in Serie A ahead of the Champions League meeting between the two clubs tomorrow evening.

With Celtic bottom of their group on three points, Ajax third on four points and Milan second on five points – Barcelona are clear at the top on ten – it is a must-win game for the Scottish Premiership side.

Milan are in poor form domestically and could only draw 1-1 against Genoa at the weekend, a match which saw fans blockade the exit post-match, having to be talked round by players.

But Mulgrew feels not too much should be drawn into Milan's worst start to a season for over 30 years.

"You would expect Milan to be a bit further up the table, obviously, but the Champions League is a whole different competition", the versatile player said via his club's official site.

"I'm sure they will be up for it and we will need to be prepared to match them, and hopefully we can get the result.

"It's going to be difficult but we will approach it how the manager wants us to and we will be well-prepared.

"You just need to look at the world-class players in their side to see who difficult the game is going to be. Even if they have a couple of injuries, they have world-class players who can come in.

"They have some great players and we need to match them and do our bit when we have the ball."
