France and Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho has revealed that he would vote for Cristiano Ronaldo in the FIFA Ballon d'Or, even with countryman and international team-mate Franck Ribery in the running.

Sakho plays with Ribery for France and was recently proclaimed a hero as he scored a brace to help Les Bleus qualify for the World Cup; they were Sakho's first goals for his country.

The Liverpool defender pays close attention to Ronaldo though and feels it is the Portuguese who should win the Ballon d'Or.

"I would vote for Cristiano Ronaldo", Sakho told beIN Sport.

"He is a high-level player, an athlete and I know the statistics of the Portuguese are really impressive.

"It is obvious that my heart would vote for Ribery, but the numbers do not lie."

Ronaldo has scored 30 goals in just 21 competitive games so far this season.
