Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley is relishing Wednesday night's Champions League match against Bayer Leverkusen, feeling it will be an opportunity to put two dropped points at Cardiff City behind the team.

The Premier League champions could only draw 2-2 with the newly promoted club on Sunday, succumbing to a last-minute equaliser from the hosts.

David Moyes' men are back in action quickly though, with Leverkusen set to provide the Champions League opposition in Germany.

And Cleverley feels that can only be a good thing.

"We’ve got a really important game coming up on Wednesday and we know we need to get our heads up and make sure that we qualify", he told MUTV.

"It’s good we’ve got that game because you want to try and get a rhythm going and bounce back from a disappointing result.

"It was a pity that after the Arsenal game we had to wait two weeks to play again so Wednesday can’t come quick enough for us."

A win for Manchester United in Germany would send them through to the Round of 16 in the Champions League.
