Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has termed Aaron Ramsey's presence in games "massive" and explained why he feels the midfielder is making such an impact this season.

Ramsey has found goals regularly in the current campaign, notching up eleven goals in all competitions so far. However, he has also had an impact in both the winning and retaining of possession. Indeed, the 22-year-old contested 27 duels against Marseille in Tuesday's Champions League match.

Wenger cannot help but be impressed and the French tactician is pleased with Ramsey's defensive as well as attacking quality.

"Aaron [Ramsey] has first a fantastic engine", Wenger told his club's official site.

"I believe his defensive awareness has improved, his defensive qualities have improved and his defensive score is very strong now.

"After that he has a huge desire to play every single ball. He wins the 50:50s – that was not the case a year ago.

"If you let him, he takes the ball at the back, passes to himself in midfield and passes to himself up front because he wants the ball so much.

"That's why his presence is so massive in a game."
