Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas could be sacked if his side lose at home against Manchester United on Sunday, according to French sports daily L'Equipe.

Villas-Boas has come under severe pressure following Tottenham's lacklustre start to the new Premier League season, which puts their hopes of finishing in the top four and bagging a Champions League place at threat.

Spurs suffered a mauling last weekend when Manchester City trounced them 6-0 and while some respite may come this evening in the Europa League away at Tromso, the key game is against Manchester United on Sunday.

Another comprehensive defeat in that match, on home turf, could lead to Villas-Boas being sacked.
