Manchester United manager David Moyes has sent scouts to Italy to track a number of players, with Torino winger Alessio Cerci thought to be at the top of the list, according to Italian daily La Stampa.
Cerci came agonisingly close to signing for Manchester City the summer of 2012, having explained that he was 99% a Citizens player, with no idea of why the transfer broke down.
He subsequently joined Torino, where he has impressed and added to his list of suitors.
Indeed, scouts packed the stands in the recent international break when the 26-year-old played for Italy against Nigeria in an international friendly held in London.

Cerci has been a fixture in Giampiero Ventura's Torino side this term and the 65-year-old will not be keen on losing the winger mid-season.
Whether Manchester United will make an approach for the former Fiorentina man in January is unclear, but the Red Devils boss has his talent spotters making further checks on Cerci, a sure sign the Italian is under serious consideration at Old Trafford.
Cerci has won nine caps for Italy and is set to be involved at next summer's World Cup.
