Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has ruled out entering the race for countryman Fabio Coentrao in the quickly approaching January transfer window.

Mourinho has been linked with making a move for his countryman, who almost joined Manchester United from Real Madrid in the summer, missing a move to Old Trafford by a matter of minutes.

But despite the Portuguese tactician having taken Coentrao to Real Madrid in the first place, he will not repeat the signing trick at Chelsea in the new year.

"There's no link", Mourinho explained to a press conference, when asked about Coentrao.

"I don't want Portuguese guys.

"I always have them, but at this moment, we don't need them."

Coentrao is again likely to be a hot topic in the January window, with Manchester United having been tipped to revive their interest, while Juventus are also keen to take the former Benfica man to Italy, and Monaco are spying a bid.

The 25-year-old has found himself on the fringes at the Bernabeu under Carlo Ancelotti this season, featuring in just four La Liga games, with two of those appearances coming from the bench.

Coentrao has also not tasted even a minute of Champions League football for Los Blancos, despite the side playing five group games to date.
