Ezequiel Garay has played down talk of a transfer in the January window, declaring himself "happy" to be at Portuguese giants Benfica.

The Argentine centre-back has been consistently linked with Manchester United, while Barcelona, Real Madrid, Juventus and Napoli have also been listed as firm admirers of his talents.

But Garay is not actively planning a winter Estadio da Luz exit and is at pains to explain he loves life with the Portuguese side.

"I have learned a lot since I came to Benfica", Garay explained to Benfica TV.

"I am very happy at the club", he added.

And rather than targeting a switch, Garay is thinking more in terms of booking his spot in Argentina's squad for next summer's World Cup.

"We qualified and it would be my first World Cup.

"I would be very happy if I was called up."
