Manchester United defender Jonny Evans believes there is no reason why Ryan Giggs cannot extend his career at the club beyond the age of 40.

Giggs turned 40 years old yesterday and is still a key figure in the Red Devils' squad. Indeed, the Welsh midfielder was in inspired form on Wednesday evening as Manchester United ran out comprehensive 5-0 winners away at Bayer Leverkusen.

There is much talk of Giggs being offered a new contract at Old Trafford when his current one expires in the summer and with the Welshman showing no sign of slowing down, Evans feels he can continue at the club for a while longer.

"There is no reason why he can't keep going, if he keeps producing performances", Evans told MUTV.

"Maybe it takes him a little while to get going before he starts producing his best form, like he did the other night. But the experience he has, deep down inside, means he knows not to push himself too much.

"He waits for the right time and it's a good thing for him to have that.

"Other players may be panicking about their performances but I don't think he has to worry about his performances.

"He just has to go out and play the game as he knows how and it just seems to work for him."
