Southampton will lose goalkeeper Artur Boruc for "some weeks" with a fractured hand, manager Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed.

Boruc had to be substituted against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday after injuring his hand on the post whilst making a save against Demba Ba's second-half effort.

According to the BBC, Boruc can expect to miss six weeks, though Pochettino preferred to be a bit more vague at this press conference today.

A short message via the club's Twitter feed read: "Mauricio Pochettino confirms Artur Boruc has a broken hand and will be out for 'some weeks' depending on his recovery speed."

Pochettino himself was later quoted as saying: "It’s difficult to analyse how many weeks Artur will be out for. We have a few players who won’t be fit tomorrow."

Southampton are due to take on Aston Villa on Wednesday, after back-to-back Premier League defeats to Arsenal and Chelsea.

However, Pochettino continued: "We don’t have time to dwell on our two consecutive defeats because we’re only thinking about tomorrow’s game.

"We’ve lost on two very difficult grounds at Arsenal and Chelsea. Now we’ll try to impose our values and get the win tomorrow."
