Emmanuel Adebayor's return to first-team action will remain on the one-game mark after being ruled out of today's encounter against Fulham with a knee injury.

Adebayor's season has been blighted by both injury and a relegation to the reserves amid mounting speculation of a transfer.

He made his first appearance of 2013/14 as a second-half substitute in the 6-0 defeat to Manchester City, but was left out of the squad that faced Manchester United next.

Tottenham desperately need a win today, and manager Andre Villas-Boas told the club's website: "We’ve had a setback with Ade who picked up a knee injury in yesterday’s training session.

"He’s the only player who will join the injury list."

Queens Park Rangers had been the one major British club to be reportedly interested in Adebayor this season, though manager Harry Redknapp did issue a "no-chance" statement.

Clubs in Turkey such as Besiktas and Trabzonspor were also in the mix but Adebayor had dismissed a move to the country in October.

The Togolese had said: "There were clubs that have been looking. However, I do not think I will go to Turkey."
