Leeds United manager Brian McDermott has confirmed that Dexter Blackstock will not be available for his side’s Championship clash against Wigan Athletic tonight.

The striker, who is currently on loan from Nottingham Forest, also missed the Peacock’s 1-0 loss against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday after sustaining an injury in training.

And McDermott revealed that Blackstock will undergo a scan to determine the extent of the injury and hence refused to put a timeframe on the 27-year-old’s return to action.

The manager also acknowledged the fact that the forward, who has scored a goal and provided an assist in four league appearances for Leeds, has done well for his side.

“Dexter Blackstock is not available for Wednesday so we will have to see how he is for Saturday”, McDermott explained to his club’s official site.

“He is going to see a specialist and we’ll see where he goes from there.

“He has gone back to Forest to see their guy. He’ll be having a scan and then we will see how he is. I can’t put a timescale on it.

“It would be disrespectful to anybody who replaced Dexter in the side to say that we missed his presence, but Dexter has done well for us.”

Leeds are currently in ninth spot in the Championship table with 26 points from 17 games.
