West Ham midfielder Mark Noble has praised the team's defensive abilities, which he thinks will be crucial for their survival in the Premier League.

The Hammers have managed an impressive 11 clean sheets this season, a number that matches only that of league leaders Arsenal and Noble believes that this has been one of the primary reasons behind their success lately.

"I think we're top of the league now in clean sheets, but obviously at the beginning of the season we didn't score enough goals and that was the problem", Noble said speaking to the club's official website.

The club from east London managed to maintain two clean sheets over the last week, a feat that Noble believes was nothing less than 'fantastic'.

"Two clean sheets in a week and a 2-0 win on Saturday, which was fantastic and the lads deserved it", the 26-year-old added.

The West Ham defence were particularly impressive for last 20 minutes of the Swansea match on Saturday, after striker Andy Carroll was dismissed in the 59th minute. Even the match against Chelsea deserved special mention according to Noble.

"Wednesday obviously was a tough one, we didn't get that many chances, we just defended for our lives and had to do that again on Saturday for the last 40 minutes or so and deserved the three points", Noble added.
