The confusion at Leeds United is continuing amid reports that Brian McDermott is expected at the club to take training today.

McDermott was told he was being relieved of his duties on Friday, something club captain Ross McCormack confirmed the former Reading manager had told him just before the transfer window closed.

However, Leeds' owners GFH Capital issued a statement insisting that they have not sacked McDermott, amid further confusion as the club is being taken over by Cagliari owner Massimo Cellino; the Italian is now reported to want McDermott back after initially wanting him to be removed.

According to the BBC, McDermott is now expected to report for duties as normal today.

It remains unclear what the future holds for McDermott, who was advised to stay away from Leeds' 5-1 win over Huddersfield on Saturday due to legal advice.

Cellino's attempted dismissal of McDermott has now sown the seeds of chaos at the club and it is not yet clear whether the Italian's takeover will be approved by the Football League.

The Italian wants to buy 75% of Leeds.
