Leeds United have confirmed that Brian McDermott is at training today.

There has been confusion and chaos around Elland Road over the last 72 hours, as McDermott was informed he was being sacked on Friday evening.

That stemmed from Leeds being in the process of a takeover, led by Cagliari owner Massimo Cellino, who allegedly authorised the sacking.

Leeds' current owners GFH Capital, then issued a statement on Saturday claiming McDermott had not been sacked, but the former Reading boss still stayed away from the club's 5-1 win over Huddersfield after taking legal advice.

Cellino has been credited with now wanting to keep McDermott in place and the manager has attended the club's training base today.

Leeds said via their Twitter account: "The manager is at Thorp Arch for training, and there is a news conference later today."

It remains to be seen whether McDermott's return will be for the long or short term, as Cellino's takeover only needs Football League approval to proceed.
