Aston Villa defender-cum-midfielder Leandro Bacuna has expressed his disappointment at the loss against Everton and believes that his team were unlucky to have narrowly missed out on three crucial away points.

The Lions went 1-0 up in the 34th minute of the match thanks to a wonderful strike from the 22-year-old, who capitalised on a counter-attacking move set-up by team-mate Fabian Delph.

However, Aston Villa conceded two goals in quick succession, in the 74th and 85th minutes, undoing all the good work put in during the first half.

"I think everybody is a little bit disappointed because we defended really well and we were playing good", Bacuna said to his club's official website.

"It was big lift for everyone to get that point and we came here today in front of the home crowd and get a good win which was smashing for everyone."

But the Dutch international believes that this one bad result should not affect the work Aston Villa have been putting in so far this season and they should look forward to the upcoming fixtures to turn things around.

"It is tough but that is life and that's football. When this happens to you and you need to handle it and just go on to the next game", Bacuna added.
