Aston Villa's on-loan striker Grant Holt has revealed that the Villans are concerned with injuries to key players after Christian Benteke, Gabriel Agbonlahor and Fabian Delph missed out on their 2-1 defeat against relegation-battlers Fulham at Villa Park on Saturday.

The Belgian striker has been ruled out of the rest of the season after tearing his Achilles tendon during a practice session last Thursday, while Delph was out with a sore leg and Agbonlahor was down with a stomach bug.

Holt, who stepped in for Benteke and scored his first goal for Paul Lambert’s side, feels that though it is a difficult time for the club, the players are ready to move on and focus on their upcoming matches as they look to end the season in the top half of the table.

"It was tough on Thursday", the Englishman was quoted as saying by Aston Villa’s site.

"Nobody in the dressing room wanted to see that. [Benteke] is a great lad and he is disappointed.

"But as a group we need to keep working.

"It wasn't just him – there was Gabby and Delphy – so that's three big players out of your dressing room in one week. So we've got to keep going.

"We are disappointed and we are hurting. We just need to get ourselves sorted now and get ready for next week", the 32-year-old added.

The Claret and Blues are currently 13th in the league table and will be looking to better their position when they take on Crystal Palace on Saturday and then host Southampton.
