Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert is confident that fans will swarm Villa Park in huge numbers to cheer for their team when his side take on Hull City on Saturday.

The Claret and Blues are currently 16th in the Premier League, three points off a relegation spot, but Lambert believes one more point will see them through to safety and hopes to bag three points when they host the Tigers.

And the boss is hopeful that the supporters will back the club in their fight for survival in the English top flight.

“If there was ever a time a team needed its supporters, it's ourselves next weekend”, Lambert told Aston Villa’s official website.

“If there ever a game to get behind the players, its next weekend. And they will!

“It's a cup final and the supporters will get behind the lads”, the Scottish manager continued.

“They will get right behind us. I have no doubt.

“Supporters come in their thousands week in and week out. They have been great. Their support is second to none”, the 44-year-old added.

With two more games to go after this, the Villans will be hoping to end the season on a better note when they face title contenders Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur over the remaining weeks.
