West Ham United have announced that they will be touring New Zealand as part of their pre-season preparations for the first time in their history.

The pre-season tour will see the Hammers play two games in the Kiwi country against A-League sides Wellington Phoenix and Sydney FC.

Their first fixture will be against the Phoenix at Eden Park, Auckland on 23rd July and then against Sydney FC at Westpac Stadium in Wellington on 26th July.

Hammers defender Winston Reid is naturally pumped-up about the trip as he is the captain of New Zealand national team and is excited to play for West Ham in his homeland.

"I'm really excited to be bringing West Ham to New Zealand in July to play a bit of footy in the Football United Tour and show them how we do things in New Zealand!”, the Kiwi skipper told the club’s official site

"Football is really on the up in both New Zealand and Australia and we are all looking forward to both meeting all the fans and playing in exciting matches against two leading A-League clubs."

West Ham will be the first leading English club since Everton in 1986 to visit New Zealand.
