Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has explained that striker Daniel Sturridge will be assessed over the next 48 hours ahead of the club's Premier League clash against Crystal Palace on Monday evening.

Sturridge came off the bench in last weekend's 2-0 defeat against Chelsea, but was clearly off the pace and struggled to impact the game.

However, Rodgers has been pleased with his continued recovery from injury this week, even if the jury is still out on his involvement at Selhurst Park.

"We'll see over the next 48 hours", he told a press conference.

"He hadn't trained since he got injured in the previous game. He's certainly in a much better place.

"He's worked tirelessly with the medical team this week."

Liverpool are looking to claim victory against Palace to continue their Premier League title push into the final matchday on 11th May.
