Sampdoria coach Sinisa Mihajlovic is keen to snap up Gaston Ramirez from Southampton.

Ramirez has been looking to return to Serie A having not had the smoothest of rides at Southampton, slipping firmly down the pecking order when Mauricio Pochettino succeeded Neil Adkins in the hot seat.

Pochettino has now departed for Tottenham Hotspur, but Ramirez is still popular in Italy, his stock high from a spell with Bologna, and according to Genoa-based outlet Primo Canale, Mihajlovic wants to add the Uruguayan to his ranks.

Sampdoria are looking at a loan move for Ramirez, with the Italian side also being willing to make a contribution towards the attacking midfielder's salary.
