Southampton manager Ronald Koeman believes that the club have a strong squad and are ready to prove their credentials starting on Sunday, away at Liverpool.

The former Barcelona man took over as the manager at St. Mary’s this summer and witnessed a number of players heading for the exit door at the club.

Despite losing key players such as Dejan Lovren, Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert, Calum Chambers and Luke Shaw, Koeman has managed to sign seven new players ahead of the new season.

The Dutchman admits that it has been a difficult few months at the club, but feels that Saints have strengthened considerably in the last month.

“Pre-season was difficult”, Koeman admitted in a press conference.
