Nottingham Forest have appointed former Aston Villa chief executive Paul Faulkner as their new chief executive.

Faulkner stood down from his role at Aston Villa last month, but has quickly bounced back into the game at the City Ground.

The former Aston Villa supremo will assume his new role with Nottingham Forest on 1st September, just as the summer transfer window is slamming shut.

Faulkner served as Aston Villa's chief operating officer before being promoted to the chief executive role in 2010.

Aston Villa have replaced Faulkner with Tom Fox, who joined the Midlands club from Arsenal.
