Celtic’s Under-20 manager Stephen Frail is buoyed by the performance of youngsters Liam Henderson and Darnell Fisher, who were part of the first team that played Dinamo Zagreb last week in a Europa League clash.

Talking about the impression they made on the first team manager Ronny Deila, Frail told the Celtic site: “He was very positive about the young lads after the game in Zagreb, that they did well when they came on and added something to the team and the game.”

The Under-21 team defeated Rangers 6-1 and Dundee United 3-0 in their last two Youth Cup matches.

Now the Bhoys’ development squad is preparing for the Premier League International Cup clash away to Sunderland.

Talking about the match, the manager added: “The next step for them is the English Premier League so they need to be of a top standard, but we have good young players as well, and really talented ones, and hopefully they can perform again on the big stage.”

The young Celts drew their first match against Everton 1-1.

They will look to win their first game of the tournament when they face Sunderland away at the Stadium of Light, tonight.
