Aston Villa have sacked manager Paul Lambert following their 2-0 loss at Hull City on Tuesday which saw them drop into the Premier League's relegation zone.
The defeat at the KC Stadium was their tenth game without a win and they have managed to score just 12 goals in 25 games this season, the lowest in Premier League history.
First-team coach Scott Marshall and goalkeeping coach Andy Marshall have taken temporary charge of Villa, with 13 league matches remaining this term.
Lambert arrived at Villa Park in 2012 with a good reputation after impressing at Livingston, Wycombe, Colchester and Norwich City and shared a good personal relationship with club owner Randy Lerner.
Villa made a good start to the season with three wins out of their first four league fixtures, but their form has gone from bad to worse in the last few months and they are currently on a five-game losing streak in the league.

Disgruntled Villas fans openly asked for Lambert’s sacking in the game against Hull, but the Scot insisted after the match that he intended to battle on.
However, the Villa board decided to act and with the club now in the relegation zone, Lerner has a job on his hands to find a suitable replacement for Lambert, who can help the Villans to avoid the drop.
